This exciting! Exhausting. Scary. Bittersweet. So many conflicting emotions. After 16 years (for me) in this little house, it's time to say goodbye. So many wonderful memories have been made here.
In our case though, the move is just temporary while we are building a new house! We love the neighborhood, being able to walk to a dozen great restaurants, being so close to the lake, and just the general vibe of the neighborhood. We didn't want to leave. We looked into multiple options for adding on or renovating, but we couldn't make it work structurally, and we needed more space. In the end, we decided to do a tear-down and start from scratch.
Follow along as we attempt to survive this next phase! We love our floorplan, and after many rounds of revising and tweaking, we are confident that the layout is exactly what we want. We have made a few of the major selections, but there are still an overwhelming number of decisions to be made. Building a fully custom home is not for the faint of heart. Decisions on everything from hardwoods (width? wood type? stain color? scrape level?) to light switches (dimmer? location? timer? sensor?) must be made. And then we have to live with those decisions. But we are so excited to get started on this next phase!
Check back in to see how we are progressing and whether we are surviving.
